Stamford Restaurant Week is the perfect time to explore eateries
Residents of our Morgan Manor, the Townhouse and Hoy Bedford Stamford rental apartments are excited that the Stamford Downtown Winter Restaurant Weeks are back! This year, they are scheduled for Sunday, Feb.26 to Sunday, March 11, 2012. That’s two weeks of special menus and dining deals.
With more than 70 restaurants and clubs in downtown Stamford, the Restaurant Weeks are the perfect time to try that new restaurant, gastro-pub or café you’ve heard about. All of them are just a few blocks from our centrally located Stamford apartments.
There’s everything from fine dining to moderate and casual fare, a quick bite or just a cup of coffee. Downtown cuisine choices include Irish, Greek, Italian, French, Asian, Middle Eastern and American and more. You can even dine al fresco to enjoy this unusually warm weather while you experience special lunches or dinners. With so many different types of cuisine to choose from, there is something for everyone, and each participating restaurant has the option for prix-fixe lunch and dinner ranging from $10.12 lunch and $15.12 dinner to $20.12 lunch and $30.12 dinner. Common Mardi Gras Signs of Fun - Masks and Beads!
There’s always plenty to do in downtown Stamford, and residents of our Stamford rental apartments at Hoyt Bedford, the Townhouse and Morgan Manor will have tons of opportunities next week to shake off the winter blues.
Whether you call it Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday or Carnival, it’ll be time celebrate! The holiday, which is on Feb. 21 this year, traditionally covers the season between the Epiphany and Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. The celebrations vary from country to country, but have many themes in common: dancing, celebrating & food! Cities famous for Mardi Gras celebrations include Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Quebec City, Canada; and New Orleans, Louisiana. (more…)

Although the residents of our Stamford rental apartments communities are fortunate to have large, spacious apartments that provide plenty of closet space, there comes a time when each of us has looked around our homes and asked ourselves “where did all this stuff come from?” Whether its books we’ve loved and kept for years, sports equipment we no longer use or clothing we’ll never see the inside of again, it all adds up. If you’ve run out of closet space, your bookshelves are packed and you have no room for groceries, then it’s time to pare down. (more…)

Young athletes living in our Stamford rental apartments who are looking for a more active way to keep busy are in for a real treat at Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy. Located in the Springdale neighborhood of Stamford, about one and a half miles away from our Hoyt-Bedford, Morgan Manor & Townhouse apartments, it is one of the premier athletic training facilities in the Northeast.
Bobby Valentine’s is a complete training academy, providing instruction and coaching to baseball and softball enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. The programs provide players, coaches and parents with the latest athletic information available. The staff utilizes both technology and experience to develop and discover new information for players to increase their performance levels through lessons, clinics and competition. All kinds of great cinema events at the Avon!
Looking for something new and interesting to do? Well if you are a resident of one of our Stamford apartment rental communities, then you have your pick of any number of places to go and things to do this winter. For instance, one of Stamford’s true gems is the classic Avon Theatre and their schedule of upcoming events is so jam packed there’s sure to be something for everyone! The fully restored Avon Theatre features the best of independent, world and documentary films, foreign and Hollywood classics and educational programming. The film center was formed in 2003 under the name the Avon Theatre Film Center, Inc., to restore a vital downtown landmark and reopen it as a community venue for the presentation of timeless films.

Stamford rental apartments' fitness centers can help you stay in shape
Stamford apartment rentals’ residents want to get to the gym, get more organized and save more money. Admit it – these are the same resolutions we all set down for ourselves every year! Well, we’ve got ways that will help you keep them this time.
All of our downtown Stamford apartment communities have a private, on-site fitness center, with access limited to our residents only. Membership is included in your monthly rent! Now it won’t matter what the weather is. You won’t have to drive across town to that fancy franchise gym you had to join only to let the membership card sit unused most of the year. Our state-of-the-art, fully equipped fitness center is right downstairs. If you’re a shy type, you can check to see how filled it is before you even walk out the door with our closed circuit television service.

Come learn the dancing martial art of Capoeira and burn holiday fat!
When it’s cold outside of your Stamford rental apartment and the days are short, it can be easy to just give in and want to hibernate like so much of our fine Connecticut wildlife. Of course, that lifestyle with holiday feasts and other seasonal indulgences catches up quickly, and before you know it pants are too tight and New Years resolutions are being made.
We offer full fitness facilities for our residents, but for those looking for something more entertaining as well as active, there’s a great option in Stamford: Capoeira classes. On Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., you can join us at the Connecticut Ballet at 20 Acosta Street for a Capoeira class with instructor Zumbi. Wear comfortable clothes and be prepared for some fun moves! The American Red Cross are just one way to give back in Stamford this holiday season.
There are many opportunities for residents of Stamford rental apartments to enjoy the season by lending a hand to those less fortunate. The Stamford Apartments Leasing Center at 112 Hoyt Street is holding a food drive for our local food bank.
There are lots of other chances for giving back in Stamford. Saint Luke’s LifeWorks, the Stamford center for children, is holding its 22nd annual Holiday Gift collection for more than 2,500 children affected by poverty and/or disease living in Fairfield County. Animal lovers have options to give back to either PAWs Connecticut or Outreach to Pets in Need through local shops and restaurants giving percentages back to charity. Local banks and churches are holding toy drives, and the sidewalk Santas are already out ringing their bells to give you the convenience of giving on the go. (more…)
