The Norwalk Hospital offers many ways for residents of Norwalk apartments to adjust to a healthy lifestyle
Our Morningside Gardens Norwalk apartments are conveniently located near many venues of entertainment, culture and education, so there’s always something to do close by. For instance, the residents of Morningside Gardens need only walk across the street to take advantage of one of the major resources in southwestern Connecticut for health & wellness. The Norwalk Hospital serves as a teaching facility for the Yale School of Medicine and provides much more than emergency treatment. In their continuing efforts to give back to the community, Norwalk Hospital provides a variety of clinical programs and health education classes for the public.
One of the programs offered is Tai Chi classes, a gentle form of exercise that is often referred to as meditation in motion. Tai Chi offers many health benefits. It can help relieve stress, increase strength and flexibility and improve your balance, coordination and circulation. The practice is composed of slow and graceful movements that make it easy to practice for anyone, no matter their age or level of fitness.
There is also the Transformations guided group weight loss program, which is held both during the day and in the evenings. The program is designed to assess and change your lifestyle, nutrition, behavior, exercise and more over 8 weeks. Each program is limited to 12 participants, who are closely monitored through weekly food diaries and weigh-ins.
Another great way to capitalize on their health offerings is the adult healthy weight program that provides instruction in both English and Spanish. Discussions cover everything from finding sugars in foods to a review of a healthy diet portion sizes. Participants learn how to find the hidden fat in foods, utilize food labels to eat healthy while shopping on a budget, plan healthy menus and practical exercise recommendations.
