Celebrate the End of Summer with the SONO Summer Concert Series

Posted On: Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

SONO Summer Concert SeriesSo we’re halfway through the summer season. You’ve done the beach thing, played mini-golf at the shore, relaxed in your Stamford apartment rentals, maybe tried your hand at tennis or strolled through the shops on Washington Street; but, there’s still TONS more to do here in Norwalk to keep you outdoors and enjoying the great weather. For instance, the SONO Summer Concert Series kicked off on Aug. 4 with a performance by The Bernadette’s. Voted the best rhythm and blues band and New Haven’s #1 bar band, they play their own unique versions of R&B classics, classic Motown hits, contemporary funk, soul, and R&B flavored rock songs.

Next up on Thursday, Aug. 18 Reggae Culture will perform at the SONO Summer Concert Series, who present a wide variety of Caribbean music, ranging from the traditional sounds of Calypso and Soca to today’s Reggae and Dance Hall. The sounds like steel drums will ring out over the water for all of South Norwalk to enjoy! (more…)

Have a Blast from the Past at The Maritime Aquarium

Posted On: Friday, July 29th, 2011

Talk about a Blast from the Past! Have you heard about the new exhibit of life-sized robotic dinosaurs during “Dinosaur Summer” at The Maritime Aquarium? It’s just about one mile away from our Morningside Gardens Stamford apartment rentals on Prospect  Street: so it’s easy for our residents to zip on over for the show, then be back home in just minutes instead of sitting in holiday traffic.

The exhibit is part of a dinosaur triple play that also includes the IMAX movie “T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous” and the simulator ride-film “Dino Island II: Escape from Dinosaur Island” that runs every 10 minutes so there’s never a long wait. The robotic exhibit lets kids imagine what it might have been like to grow up as a dinosaur – how fast young dinosaurs grew, how big they got, what they ate and how they were protected from danger. The dinosaurs move, roar – even blink their eyes – in realistic fashion. But they’re fully lighted – not dark and scary – in an educational dinosaur exhibit fit for even the youngest visitor. One “cut-away” display will even offer a peek inside a robotic dinosaur, so kids can see how it works and even control it. And an outdoor “fossil dig” will entertain budding paleontologists. (more…)

Norwalk Chamber of Commerce Meet and Greet

Posted On: Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Several of our residents at the Stamford rentals at Morningside Gardens Apartments in Norwalk, CT are local business men and women, and as such understand the value of a good deal. Not just the good deal they receive for their money by living at Morningside Gardens (although that would be reason enough): They also understand the value of living and working in Norwalk where the commercial space is affordable and businesses are offered many benefits by both the city council and Norwalk Chamber of Commerce for bringing their business here. The Chamber is an especially active one that provides its members with many opportunities throughout the year to grow their businesses and partner with other area businesses.

For instance, now that the weather is warmer, the Chamber will take their monthly meet-n-greet outdoors to enjoy these balmy spring evenings. The next event coming up is one looked forward to by members and their guests alike. It’s the business-after-hours event at the Tuscan Oven at 544 Main Avenue, in Norwalk. (more…)

Just when you thought it was safe to go out for a quiet dinner…

Normally for the residents of our Morningside Garden Norwalk apartments and Stamford rentals, going out for dinner can be anything from a casual family affair at  Rio Mexican Restaurant or the Bertucci’s Brick Oven Pizza, or a five-star dining experience at Harbor Lights on Long Island Sound or at Dolce on Weed Avenue, but rarely does it involve murder, and on Friday the 13 th no less! Don’t worry, it’s all perfectly legal!

Tonight at 7 p.m., the Norwalk Seaport Association is holding a “Murder Mystery: Double Trouble” at the Norwalk Inn & Conference Center benefitting the Sheffield Lighthouse. Norwalk is a perfect blend of urban cityscapes, small–town neighborhoods and quiet, countryside. The residents of our Morningside Gardens Norwalk apartments on Prospect Street are able to choose from any number of activities depending on their interests.

Now that spring is here they can choose to get in an early tennis game or round of golf at any one of several locations close by. The Oakhills Golf Course on Fillow Street for example, is only about 2 miles away (an easy bike ride) from Morningside Gardens and offers tee or court times as early as 8 a.m. on weekends. There are also tennis courts available at Calf Pasture Beach and at Norwalk High School and another golf course at Dolce International on Weed Avenue.

For lunch you can head down into SONO (South Norwalk). There are tons of options depending on your food preference; but, one place you really have to try is Caffeine Espresso Bar & Café. How do 21 varieties of coffees and teas sound? You can also enjoy one of their delicious paninis, quiches or wraps.  But don’t forget to save room for dessert – flourless chocolate lava cake, anyone? Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum Opening

Posted On: Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Living at Morningside Gardens Norwalk apartments has many advantages, one of them being their close proximity to the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion. A National Historic Landmark, the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is one of the earliest and most significant Second Empire Style country houses in the United States. It was built by railroad baron LeGrand Lockwood during and after the Civil War (1864 to 1868). In 1965, the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk established a Museum Corporation board to restore and operate the Mansion as a public museum, a national center for Victorian studies and a community center for exhibits and concerts.

This year, local residents of Norwalk should plan on attending the Museum’s opening on April 8 which will commemorate the Civil War Sesquicentennial with the unveiling of the exhibition, Mansion Fragments: Innovations in Architecture, Design, and Technology from the Civil War Era, featuring objects drawn from the museum’s permanent collection. The Museum is also a popular place to hold a wedding, anniversary party, corporate function, or any special family event you might be planning. (more…)
