Fun Fall Festivals Near Stamford Apartment Rentals
Of all the many benefits there are to living in one of our communities of Stamford apartment rentals at Hoyt-Bedford, Morgan Manor or The Townhouse, the number one advantage has to be that all the best fall events are just a block or two away. Residents of our downtown Stamford apartments can stroll on over to Bedford Street to check out the Saturday Farmer’s Markets, to Mill River Park & Playground or to the Stamford Town Center mall for the weekend performances held in the center court. Don't Miss Franklin Street Works Inaugural Exhibition
Just a few blocks south from our downtown Stamford apartment rentals, you can find one of the hidden gems of Stamford. Franklin Street Works is a not-for-profit contemporary art space, café, and social gathering place in Stamford. It produces original on-site and off-site exhibitions, artist projects and related programming. Located in a set of renovated row houses on Franklin Street that date back to the 1880s, the two-story space includes three galleries and a café.
Franklin Street Works encourages innovative art and exhibition practices and a workshop approach to its programming, audiences and organizational structure. The activities and attitudes of the café reflect and expand on the organization’s mission as a contemporary art venue. (more…)

Tips to Stay Safe in Stamford Apartment Rentals
With the recent hurricane / tropical storm Irene now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to get back to business at our Stamford apartment rentals. Although it seems we were spared the worst of the storm damage, the clean-up in many parts of downtown Stamford continues. Our Stamford Apartment communities of Hoyt-Bedford, Morgan Manor and The Townhouse Apartments were fortunate in that we didn’t lose electrical power or get flooded. But judging from the number of phone calls we received prior to the storm asking for preparation plans and advice, I thought it would be worthwhile to go over a basic checklist of what to have on hand in the event of an emergency. Hoyt Bedford Stamford Apartment Rentals
The residents of our Stamford apartment rentals may have noticed a lot of activity around our Leasing Center on Hoyt Street recently. We’ve been busy pruning trees, repainting the parking lot surfaces and lines and repairing sidewalks; all to help keep our properties looking fresh and well-tended. The work continues indoors where we are upgrading our reception desk with beautiful limestone countertops. The renovations will continue through the rest of the summer as we renovate our property collages where the various apartment floor plans and community details are displayed. (more…)

The Bartlett Arboretum, part of the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, has been offering some great new programs this year. But as a resident of Downtown Stamford apartment rentals, I have to say that my perennial favorite has always been to hike the nature trails. It doesn’t matter what the season is, there is always something new to see, smell and discover.
As their blog reads, “The Bartlett Arboretum offers opportunities to explore living bamboo, a collection of “witches’ broom” trees, a secluded garden, several varieties of nut trees, a bog walk, and woodland trails. Walkers of all ages and abilities can enjoy the 10 well-defined, easy hiking trails and boardwalk paths that crisscross the mixed-hardwood forest, a red maple swamp, a shallow, bubbling brook and a two-acre pond on their sixty-three-acres.
An interesting feature is a sturdy boardwalk winding through the swamp and bog areas—fun in springtime when turtles and frogs are abundant. A perennial garden is sure to inspire any gardener seeking fresh ideas. It is not necessary to take a guided tour, and any time is a good time to visit. There is something of interest taking place at all times and in every season at the arboretum.” (more…)

I hope you’re enjoying all the great things there are to do downtown near your Stamford apartment rentals this summer, but I know in the back of your mind there’s a little voice reminding you of all the things you need to do to get ready for back-to-school. You can tell that voice to keep quiet for a little longer, because we’ve already started getting the information together for you on what you’ll need to get your child registered, what school district you’re in and the best places to go for school supplies.
First things first: The first day of school in Stamford is Thursday September 1. Orientation for Kindergarteners, 6th and 9th graders is Wednesday, Aug. 31. Students may be registered at their districted school Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. To register a new student for school, you must provide identification, proof of residency and a completed health exam form. There’s a great website: www.stamfordpublicschools.org that will list the required documentation you’ll need. It also has the school year calendar, contact info for all the schools and administrators, a link where you can set up your children’s hot-lunch account and pay online, and it’s where you’ll find important notices or postings about school closings or weather delays. When I was a kid (before air conditioners) and it was too hot outside, mom would load up the Chrysler wagon with us kids and a picnic hamper and take us up to the Stamford Museum and Nature Center for the day. Set in the rolling hills of north Stamford, you could always find a breeze up there by the pond and the nature trails that ran through the shady woods kept us cool and happy all afternoon.
Well it’s still the place to go for a cool breeze, but now there’s plenty to do that will entice you outdoors. Located just 3 miles north of our Stamford apartment rentals, the Stamford Museum and Nature Center has something for everyone. The kids can still wander through the Heckscher Farm; in fact each Tuesday in July and August, you can come and see what it takes to run a farm. A farm staff member will guide you through an interactive presentation. Topics will include training animals, grooming, milking goats, wool processing, and much more. Meet at the chicken coop at 2 p.m. Tuesdays and be prepared to get your hands dirty, have some farm fun and learn something new! (more…)

Our rentals in Stamford are not new to the downtown area; in fact, they’ve led the pack in downtown living for the last 50 years or so. But, where today it’s easy to find slender, glass towers or brushed steel factory loft units, you’ll find there’s a growing appreciation for things like our bricked walkways curving under mature shade trees past professionally landscaped flower beds or the tastefully designed Asian water garden. Georgian brick architecture, balconies and terraces big enough to fit more than a flower pot and decorator touches like brass trim, deeply carpeted lobbies with marble halls have welcomed generations of our residents home.
And now, when residents choose to take a stroll outside the peaceful communities of Hoyt-Bedford or Morgan Manor, they can expand their walks to include some nearby neighborhoods and enjoy the latest art installations for free out along the sidewalks of downtown Stamford. The Art In Public Places program is now in its 17th year, providing residents and guests a chance to enjoy and expand their appreciation of art. (more…)

The Circus is here! The Circus is here! We’re always on the lookout for new and fun things for the residents of our rentals in Stamford to do, and boy do we have a great one this week!
The Big Apple Circus has put up their big top for the second year in Stamford just in time to bring in the summer! Last year was their first visit here and they were met with such enthusiasm with tickets selling out for every performance that they promised then and there to return. The huge red & white striped big top has gone up in Mill River Park and performances begin tonight. It’s a great show with acrobats, contortionists, monocyclists and twirlers from Mongolia! There are 12 miniature horses and wonderful clowns including the world-famous “Grandma.”
Mill River Park is certainly taking shape since the redevelopment began several years ago. The old dam and unsightly pond have been made over into a lovely green park with a meandering freshwater stream bubbling through it. There are pathways leading from the riverside, through lovely public gardens and on into a wonderful children’s playground complete with turrets and cool water mist arches. (more…)
