Stamford Downtown Farmers Market

Posted On: Friday, June 10th, 2016

Stamford Downtown Farmers MarketThe 2016 Stamford Downtown Farmers Market kicks off Saturday, June 18 and will continue through October 29. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday, come out to the farmers market on Prospect Street at Latham Park and support your local vendors. There will be a wide variety of locally grown fruits, vegetables and flowers as well as breads, jams, baked goods, cheeses, oils and so much more! Don’t miss out on being able to buy straight from the farm to your home at the Stamford Downtown Farmers Market.

Some people may question why you should buy local, especially from a farmers market. Here are a few reasons why you should support your local farmers market:

  1. Fresh, Seasonal Flavors: When you buy from a farmers market, you can know that the food is in season and fresh, and that the flavors are better and have been grown and brought to you organically. The food isn’t highly processed or grown using pesticides, hormones and any other non-organic modifications. Farmers bring only the best by using better and safer techniques and picking right before the market begins.
  2. Supports Local Farmers: Many times, local farmers have trouble competing with large, agriculture businesses that control the industry. Buying from local farmers gives them a chance to compete and return to market with their fresh produce again.
  3. Connect with your Community: Not only do you get fresh flavors and support local farmers when you buy from a farmers market, you also get the chance to build relationships and connect with your community. At a farmers market, you can meet up with friends and family and make new friends as well. In addition, when you buy from a local farmer, there is a good chance you can learn about great cooking tips and recipes straight from the farmer. Typically, farmers love the food they grow and sell and have come up with great recipes they love to share with customers. Overall, farmers markets are great places to connect with your community.

Be sure to come out and support your local Stamford Downtown Farmers Market this June through October. For a list of vendors and more information, visit Stamford Downtown’s website.

We loving living in a city that has events like this that brings our community and residents together. If you are looking for an apartment in Stamford with a great sense of community, give leasing consultant Desiree a call or text at 203-223-1665 or visit www.CTBestApts.com for more information.

Art in Public Places in Stamford Downtown

Posted On: Monday, May 16th, 2016

Art in Public Places in Stamford DowntownArt can be an elegant way to express one’s feelings. It can come in many different forms: music, sculptures, paintings, dance, animation and much more. Even from a young age, people have always been able to listen to music or look at art and appreciate the time and effort put into making it. Some of us even enjoy it so much that we pursue making our own art as a career or vigorously on the side. With its annual Art in Public Places event, Stamford Downtown tries to accommodate both sides: those who love to make art and those who simply enjoy art.

Every year, Stamford Downtown plays host to a distinguished outdoor sculpture exhibit that is designed to bring together local and regional audiences; this year’s Art in Public Places exhibit is called “Downtown Expressions.” Starting June 1, 43 sculptures from 16 different artists will be displayed all summer throughout Downtown and at the Stamford Town Center.
