Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Connecticut-Style

St. Patrick's Day Celebrations in ConnecticutIf you’re ready for the wearing of the green and to celebrate the luck of the Irish, then you’re in the right place. The Connecticut area is filled with tons of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations from traditional Irish feasts to parades and more. Here’s a quick round up of some of the area’s best things to do throughout the state to celebrate everyone’s favorite Irish holiday.


Stamford’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade may be over, but there’s still fun to be had when you “Paddy Hard” at Tigin Irish Pub on March 17. Open at 10 a.m. on the big day, Tigin Irish Pub will have live music, green drinks, all-day specials and plenty of Irish fun leading up to the event.

Greater New Haven

Enjoy two days of celebrations with Playwright Irish Pub on March 13 and 17. Get “a little bit of Irish in Hamden” with craft and draft beer specials, live Irish music and of course, a traditional Irish breakfast.

Then, head on over to the Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which steps off on Sunday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m. This parade is touted as the largest single-day spectator event in the state, so you don’t want to miss this! Hamden Restaurant Week 2015

From Sept. 28-Oct. 4, enjoy some of the best restaurants in Hamden at Hamden Restaurant Week 2015With so many amazing restaurants in the vibrant city of Hamden, it can be hard to settle on just one. But, with the 5th Annual Hamden Restaurant Week fast approaching, you won’t have to choose! Enjoy a week’s worth of some of the best food the area has to offer and perhaps find your favorite new restaurant while you’re at it.

From Sept. 28 through Oct. 4, restaurants all over town will be offering their favorite dishes at a fixed price. Fall into County Fairs this Season

Sept. 24-27: The Durham Agricultural Fair
The Durham Agricultural Fair is Connecticut’s largest fair, and this year marks its 96th year of “good, clean, wholesome fun.” There will be livestock exhibitions, rides, a talent show, redneck games, a wine festival and some of the absolute best entertainment around. Hamden Regional Chamber Celebrates 90 Years with Roaring Twenties Mystery Show

Join Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce for a night of mystery, laughter and fun at The Roaring Twenties Homicide! This murder mystery/comedy will kick off the 90th anniversary celebration of Hamden Regional Chamber, and will take place on Feb. 26 at Cascade Fine Catering.

Featuring a cast of 25 local actors, The Roaring Twenties Homicide is both a comedy and a murder mystery that incorporates audience participation throughout the show. As the night progresses, guests will have the opportunity to become a part of the story and help solve the murder! Cascade Fine Catering will be transformed into a 1920’s Speakeasy, and guests are encouraged to wear their best 1920’s flapper dresses, suits and other attire. A reception with hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and the show at 7 p.m. (more…)

See the Saturday Afternoon Entertainment Series in Hamden

For 27 years now, the Hamden Arts, Recreation and Culture Department has been hosting budget-friendly Saturday afternoon events that keep the whole family entertained, with outstanding puppet performances of classic favorites and many creative original works. Held at Thornton Wilder Hall at the Miller Cultural Complex, these events are located less than five minutes away from the Hamden apartments for rent at Seramonte.

Audiences will delight in seeing characters come to life at these upcoming performances:

  • Mr. Punch’s Christmas Carol: The talented artists at the Crabgrass Puppet Theatre will take the stage on Dec. 6, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. to add their own twist to the classic tale.
  • Dragon King: Adventurers will love watching the Tanglewood Puppets perform “Dragon King” on Jan. 24, 2015 at 1 p.m. (more…)
