After paying your security deposit, first month’s rent and furnishings for your apartment, the last thing you want to do is spend a ton of money on moving costs. When moving on a tight budget, the key is to plan and be resourceful. While some expenses may be unavoidable, there are still plenty of smart and easy ways to move into your new apartment in Branford or Stamford without breaking the bank.

Toss, Donate or Sell

The less there is to move, typically the less expensive (and the easier!) it is to move. Before packing up your stuff, set it out and evaluate what you use regularly and what you will need in your apartment. If you don’t need it or donating. Being aware of these common expenses can help prevent first time renters from being caught off-guard when renting an apartment.

Initial Cost

Before moving into an apartment, there are several initial fees that renters are required to pay. The first fee is the rental application fee which can cost between $30-$100 and includes a credit check. In addition to the application fee, most complexes also require a deposit of the first and/or last month’s rent upfront.
