Stamford is Getting Healthy, Wealthy and Wise

Posted On: Friday, May 20th, 2011

Ahh, spring! Finally, the warmer weather has arrived and we start to feel the inclination to get outside of our Stamford rentals and breathe some fresh air. But what’s that you say? A winter spent huddled inside trying to stay warm has rendered you weak? Pale? Sapped your stamina? Not to worry. Downtown Stamford, with all it has to offer in the way of outdoor entertainment, has one more surprise in store for you. Coming later this month on May 25 is a Health & Wellness Expo that will help start your summer with a bang!

Showcasing the latest in healthy living, the second annual Health & Wellness Expo 2011, with the theme, “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise,” will feature more than 100 exhibitors including the “healthiest cocktail party for hip and happening fun” as well as fitness, yoga and dance demonstrations, special health tips for spring and summer and much more. In the “healthy” category, this year’s event will feature new and expanded elements, such as senior health, healthy homes, men’s health and pet health. (more…)

Annual Northeast PEZ® Collectors Gathering Coming to Stamford

Posted On: Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

I am so excited to share this little tidbit with you all! The Annual Northeast PEZ® Collectors Gathering is taking place right here in downtown Stamford next month! It’s being held at the Holiday Inn on Main Street, about 3 blocks from our Townhouse Stamford apartments on Prospect Street, and it runs from April 7 – 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

PEZ® has been around for more than 50 years, and while you probably have at least one somewhere in your home, I’ll bet you didn’t know that they are made right here in Connecticut! How cool is that?!

While the original candies were mints and marketed to adults as an alternative to smoking, the candy and the dispensers have become an iconic part of childhood in America. The candy flavors have been expanded over the years and now include such varieties as fruit flavors, sourz and even cola flavored candies. The dispensers have literally hundreds of designs to choose from.

At the upcoming PEZ® Gathering, you’ll find collectors from all over the country seeking to compete, sell, display and share their own collections. There’s going to be a children’s costume contest, a silent auction with proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish® and Hole-In-The-Wall foundations, and dozens of dealers seeking to sell, swap or trade their Pez-wares. The cost is $5 for general admission. (more…)

Singles Night Out at La Paella

Posted On: Monday, March 21st, 2011

We know you’ve been hibernating these last couple of months while winter s-l-o-w-l-y releases its grip on us. If you’re ready to get out of your Norwalk apartments and try something a little different, we might have just the thing to warm up these early spring evenings. There’s going to be a “Paella Party” for singles at the La Paella Tapas Wine Bar & Restaurant. Located at 44 Main Street in Norwalk, Conn., not far from our Morningside Gardens Apartments, this is a favorite among locales. If you haven’t already, this is a great chance for you to visit this NY Times rated restaurant, try some new tapas and some of the “almost perfect paella” that makes La Paella famous.  Plus, you can meet with other area singles for a great time! Personally, I’d recommend the Chilean wine. (more…)
