Posted On: Thursday, September 26th, 2019

Fall is in the air, which means it’s the season of pumpkins patches, falling leaves and cooler weather. Fall may be the season of change, but change doesn’t have to be limited to the outdoors. This year, celebrate the season of change by bringing fall into your CTBest apartment with festive fall décor. We’ve come up with a few easy tips to get you started.

Outdoor Elements

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to make your apartment feel like fall is to bring natural elements inside. Visit your local pumpkin patch and pick up some pumpkins and gourds in a variety of sizes or gather some pinecones, acorns and brightly colored leaves. Place these natural pieces around your apartment or come up with some fun DIY décor ideas such as a fall shadow box or pinecone garland. (more…)

Apartment Style 101: White Out

Posted On: Monday, August 29th, 2016

white apartment decorWhen we invite people over to where we live, we want to be able to show our creativity in how we decorate our homes while also making it feel as welcoming as possible. The trend right now that looks crisp and clean is using white throughout your home. Even though you may live in an apartment and can’t change cabinet or wall colors, there are still plenty of different ways to incorporate clean, white décor into your apartment.

With there being many different shades of white, the opportunities are endless, and you will love the results. One of the key things to remember when decorating with all white is to use different kinds of textures throughout your rooms and apartment. The textures can give the room more depth and help it to not look too bland. You can use silk pillows on the couch and add a fleece throw. You can also use other décor such as white wood furniture, off-white plants, white mirrors and more to incorporate a variety of whites and textures in your apartment.  (more…)

Apartment Style 101: Mirror Tricks

Posted On: Monday, August 1st, 2016

When decorating your apartment or trying to create a new look, you don’t need to go overboard with fancy supplies or materials. The addition of something as simple as a mirror can do wonders for your apartment’s personality, as long as you do it right. Here are some of our mirror tricks to help you add some style to your CTBest apartment!

Mirrors can bring more light to your apartment without the cost of buying and using more lamps. Brighten up your space by placing a mirror behind a light source in a room. The mirror will reflect the light, so it can reach more areas of the room, and this effect will add some beauty to the space as well!Sometimes you don’t need a whole lot of room to work with when decorating. If you have a piece of furniture that forms a tight space against a wall, think about adding a large floor mirror. This addition can add prominence and purpose to your furniture and give you a great spot to make sure everything’s in order!

For a more daring approach, consider adding a whole mirror wall to your apartment! If done properly, these mirrors can give off the illusion the room is bigger than it really is and add an extra design element to your apartment. Some ways to build your mirror wall is by using multiple smaller mirrors like paneling, using large antique mirrors for added charm and an artistic touch, or framing the mirror with trim to give it substance.

These are just a few of many ways mirrors can increase the character of your home. Don’t waste your time with complicated and time-consuming projects when hanging up a mirror is all you need!

When you get home, print out the picture, cut it out to the shape of the state you were in and put it up on the state on the map. This idea is a great decoration piece that is easy to do and reminds you of the places you have been and trips you have took. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter! (more…)

Here are some of our favorite spring wreath ideas:

  • Of course, no spring wreath is complete without flowers. Our favorite picks for this time of year are tulips, hydrangeas, daisies or whatever variety reminds you of spring. To keep things fresh, silk flowers are definitely the way to go; you can always make the wreath feel more natural by using grapevines or twigs as a base. Easy apartment decorations for springWarmer weather is starting to arrive and your apartment should be decorated to help add that extra spring to your step. Decorating an apartment is sometimes a difficult task due to lease restrictions. Give your apartment a style refresh that will not leave permanent damage and check out these tips for decorating your apartment in the new season:

  1. Adding plant or flower accents throughout your apartment is always a safe, inexpensive option. Try your hand at forcing spring branches to bloom. These beautiful flowering branches add sculpture and rustic contrast in areas that may seem uniform and simple. Check out how to force branches to flower here.
  2. If painting in an apartment is too much of a commitment, try painting a bookshelf or cabinet. The refreshing idea is to paint just two shelves on a bookshelf, creating accent shelves. This is a simple, yet effective way to refresh your space by the addition of a touch of color.
  3. To add other pops of color throughout your home, consider area rugs and throw pillows. This is a more costly venture, but thanks to pillow covers, pillows can interchange with the seasons. A light rug can create the illusion of a larger room and make it seem more spacious. Adding a darker rug in brighter spaces can add gorgeous contrasts. Pillows and rugs are also an easy way to add texture to a room, which create movement and captivate the eye. (more…)
