Ways to Spend Summer Days Near UCONN

Ways to Spend Summer Days Near UCONN

Living in a college town makes for busy days and nights during the regular school year. But during the summer, with slower schedules for students and great weather, students and area residents like to spend the summer exploring the town they might not get to enjoy when carrying a full class load.

Our Stamford apartments, 77 & 65 Prospect Street, Morgan Manor and Hoyt Bedford put our residents in the middle of all the summer action. In addition to the great amenities at each of our properties, we encourage you to check out what Stamford has going on this summer.

Storrs Center has really grown over the last few years, and now students and the greater community enjoy hanging out here. Geno’s restaurant, named after famed women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma, features fresh pasta and other authentic Italian food. Or grab some local produce at the weekend farmer’s market. The open air atmosphere is thriving in the summer months. Other retail locations and live music acts can keep you busy all summer long.

When the heat ratchets up, nothing will satisfy a sweet tooth like some scoops from The Dairy Bar on the UCONN campus. Award winning goodness has been available since the early 1900s, and visitors like to watch their desserts being made in-house. Besides ice cream, you can also pick up fresh cheese, eggs and milk or a grab and go lunch.

Since our residents have access to public transportation, day trips to museums and attractions are easy to plan. One of our favorites is the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry. Take advantage of the Saturday Puppet Show Series, or register for a workshop, give time as a volunteer or just take in the history of puppetry.  Take your friends and family on a UCONN Animal Barn Tour or spend the day at the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History.

If you need a break from the concrete jungle, head out to Diana’s Pool or any of a number of swimming holes in the area. Take a picnic, some sunscreen and a towel to while away the day. After grabbing a quick shower at your CTBest home, enjoy some of the nightlife in the area. The Mansfield Drive-In Theatre makes us feel nostalgic even as we enjoy some films with the fireflies. Or make plans to attend one or all of the live shows as part of the United Bank 2017 Summer Concert Series.

No matter what you choose to do this summer, we hope you take some excursions and live like a tourist in your city. To learn more benefits of living in our Stamford properties, call Desiree at 203-223-1665 or visit  www.ctbestapts.com/apartments/stamford/77-65-prospect-street/.
