All kinds of great cinema events at the Avon!
Looking for something new and interesting to do? Well if you are a resident of one of our Stamford apartment rental communities, then you have your pick of any number of places to go and things to do this winter. For instance, one of Stamford’s true gems is the classic Avon Theatre and their schedule of upcoming events is so jam packed there’s sure to be something for everyone! The fully restored Avon Theatre features the best of independent, world and documentary films, foreign and Hollywood classics and educational programming. The film center was formed in 2003 under the name the Avon Theatre Film Center, Inc., to restore a vital downtown landmark and reopen it as a community venue for the presentation of timeless films.
The theater runs a few current movies, such as January’s “The Artist” and “A Dangerous Method.” Where the theatre’s programming really stands out, though, is with its special programming. This special programming consists of retrospectives and rare footage of rock and roll artists with its “Legends of Rock Live,” classic and updated French language films with “French Cinematheque,” a series hand-selected by American film critic Maitland McDonagh “Critic’s Choice,” and “Documentary Night,” which shines a spotlight on non-fiction films and their creators. The Avon is located at 272 Bedford Street, just two blocks from our Hoyt-Bedford and Morgan Manor apartments and one block from our Townhouse apartments on Prospect Street. It’s surrounded by many of Bedford Streets best restaurants and pubs, so why not make a night of it?
