Looking for the perfect restaurant for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner? Or just need some tips on great local spots? We’ve compiled a list of our favorite restaurants in Stamford and Norwalk, so you’ll have an easy time deciding, no matter your mood or taste!
Saltwater Grille – Just a short drive from downtown Stamford, you’ll find the Saltwater Grille in a romantic harbor front setting. The food and drinks are top notch, and they’re even more enjoyable from a table with views of the water. Be sure to request a table with a view when you call ahead!
Napa & Co. – Situated in the heart of downtown on the corner of Broad and Summer Streets, this restaurant has quickly become an institution in Stamford. It aims to evoke the energy of the Napa Valley and has been getting rave reviews since it opened, so be sure to make your reservation for Valentine’s Day now (or to take advantage of their February specials). Not in the mood to celebrate on the 14th? Try their Singles Bash on February 12th!
Telluride – With 312 different wines, including 30 by the glass, you’ll surely find something here to please you and your sweetheart at this downtown Stamford establishment. The restaurant has won Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence five times, and the cozy, “ski lodge-esque” atmosphere is as good as the food and wine.
Grand – For a memorable dining experience in a stylish, lounge-driven atmosphere, make a reservation at Grand in downtown Stamford. We recommend ordering lots of small plates to share, and you’ll want to move to the bar afterward to enjoy a scrumptious cocktail after your meal.
Strada 18 - Located in Washington Street in South Norwalk, this Italian restaurant is best described as a pizza and fine wine bar, but with high-quality, fresh (usually homemade) ingredients. Thinking your date won’t eat pizza? Try the Branzino, Veal Bolognese or Salad Nicoise. If you can’t get a reservation, come after the dinner rush. Or, try Match (up the street) for gourmet pizza as well as creative American fare.
Blackstones Steakhouse – Don’t be deceived by the website; this restaurant is one of the best-kept secrets in Norwalk. Although it’s a bit pricey, the food is excellent and the service and ambiance make it worth it. Is your date a vegetarian? Try the Lime Restaurant further down the street. It’s very small but serves a wide variety of organic and vegetarian house-made dishes (including organic beers, sodas and wines). Even their soups, salad dressings and sauces are made fresh.
