It may be cold outside, but that is no reason to hibernate. How about getting your friends together for an afternoon or evening to try something new? For example, learn the art of pottery through ceramic art classes, using the potter’s wheel and ceramic sculpting. The Lakeside Pottery Ceramic School and Studio, located just a few blocks from beautiful apartments in Stamford, is offering instruction activities for children and adults that includes group classes (beginners and advanced), private lessons and open studio time for independent work.
Registration is now underway for their Spring 2013 pottery programs. Each program lasts eight weeks with a variety of classes available throughout the day.
Pottery programs offered at Lakeside Pottery include:
- Pottery Wheel Beginners Classes – This class is designed for the beginner and intermediate level artist. It covers the basic skills and knowledge needed to feel comfortable moving to the next level.
- Pottery Wheel Advanced Classes – For those who have mastered the basic skills of wheel-throwing, this class provides demonstrations and instruction on more complex forms coupled with constructive evaluation of your work. Instructors will demonstrate then assign class projects where students will be encouraged to work independently.
- Handbuilding and Sculpting – As opposed to wheel-throwing, this class will allow you to design and make hand built pottery and ceramic sculpting using various techniques. Glazing will also be covered throughout the eight weeks.
- Children After School Programs – After school pottery classes are available to children ages 8 to 12. Throughout the eight weeks students will learn to use the potter’s wheel, learn handbuilding/sculpting techniques and glaze all of their projects they complete.
This winter get out of your Connecticut apartment, spend time with friends and learn to create beautiful art with your own two hands. Each program is scheduled to start in March, so make sure that you stop by the studio or register online at www.LakesidePottery.com.
