Fun Fall Activities in Fairfield County

Fall is officially here, and we can all agree that nothing compares to the beauty of New England falls! With the longest foliage season in New England, Connecticut is an ideal destination for fun fall activities. If you’re looking to add some fun festivities to your fall bucket list, check out these exciting activities happening nearby in Fairfield County.

Apple Picking

Whether you’re making apple pie, apple cider or just eating an apple for a healthy snack, no apple tastes better than one you pick yourself right from the source. For those looking to score some fresh apples this fall, head on over to Silverman’s Farm in Easton. Throughout September and into early October, visitors can take a tractor ride to the farm’s orchard to pick their own delicious apples. In addition to apple picking, Silverman’s also has a petting farm, country market, pumpkin patch, hayrides and more.

Pumpkin Patches

Nothing screams fall more than visiting a local pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin to decorate your front door or balcony. Picking out a pumpkin is a fall tradition for many, and a great excuse to enjoy the crisp fall weather. Luckily, Stamford residents have access to several nearby pumpkin patches. Sam Bridge Nursery and Green Houses in Greenwich offers residents free hayrides to their pumpkin patch, as well as build-a-scarecrow and pumpkin painting events every Saturday in October.

Hiking

When the weather gets cool and the leaves start changing colors, there’s nothing better than taking a leisurely fall hike through the woods. For those looking to take in all the beautiful foliage this fall, make sure to stop by the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford. Boasting 71 acres of forest trails and stunning views, Bartlett Arboretum provides the perfect setting to fall in love with nature and enjoy the leaf-peeping season.

Haunted Houses

Looking for a scare? For fright enthusiasts and Halloween lovers, visiting a haunted house is a must-do during the fall season. Legends of Fear in Shelton offers one of the most unique haunted traditions in New England. This haunted farmhouse features two main attractions. Haunted Hayride pulls guests into the fields and woods for a night of chills, while The Hallow features five frightening attractions packed into one eerie tour.

Corn Maze

Navigating a corn maze is a favorite outing in the fall months. Castle Hill Farm in Newtown offers a 7-acre corn maze complete with a new and unique design every year. Halfway through the maze, visitors can climb up on the wagon observation deck to look out over the top of the corn at the farm. Castle Hill also offers Flashlight Corn Maze on November 2 for those wanting to take on the adventure after dark.
