There's lots of chances to enjoy flying a kite around our Norwalk apartments!

Residents of our Morningside Gardens Norwalk apartments can just go fly a kite! No seriously, grab your favorite kite – paper, nylon or vinyl – and head off to one of the great parks nearby to enjoy catching some air.

If you’re looking for fellow kite-flyers, you can head over to Hammonasset State Park in Madison, CT (exit 62 off I-95) where the ConnectiKiters Club often meets! This group of friendly, like-minded high-flyers holds meetings for special events, like their recent Flag-Day Kite Flying event on last Sunday or their previous workshops on how to make your own kite from scratch. They are always welcoming new members to join in on the fun!

Even if you aren’t looking for a club, you can find plenty of space to fly or enjoy other fun at Hammonasset State Park. Hammonasset is one of the largest state parks in Connecticut with camping facilities, restrooms, picnic areas, a great beach and open fields for kite flying. It’s just about an hour’s drive north on I-95, making it perfect for a day trip when you don’t want to spend all day on the highway getting there.

For a more regular group, the ConnectiKiters Club also meets at Sherwood Island State Park (exit 18 off I-95 in Westport, CT) on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. from now until the end of September. Wind conditions will be reported on Twitter at USAKiters at 4:30 p.m.  So tell your friends, your neighbors, your boss – to just go fly a kite!
