There is nothing sweeter than an ooey, gooey s’more and today, Friday, August 9, is your lucky day because it is National S’mores Day! For residents of downtown Stamford apartments, the Stamford Museum & Nature Center is providing the opportunity for you to enjoy this tasty campfire treat.
From 4 to 5 p.m. visitors to the museum can stop by the meadow and roast their own marshmallow to build the perfect s’more. This popular summer celebration is free for members of the Stamford Museum & Nature Center and free with gate admission to non-members.
In addition to National S’mores Day, the Stamford Museum & Nature Center has plenty of opportunities for families of nearby apartments in downtown Stamford to enjoy the weekend with two events on Sunday: Summer Sundays on the Farm and Night is Nice Planetarium Shows.
Summer Sundays on the Farm is the perfect opportunity for visitors to get a closer look at Heckscher Farm. Attendees of this family-friendly event will enjoy a trip to the vegetable garden for some self-guided reading, planting or crafting. Additionally, you can watch otter have their lunch, meet one of the farm animals up close, help with a farm chore, explore a barn, join in a cooking project to take home and more. This Sunday, August 11 from noon to 4 p.m., is the last Summer Sunday on the Farm, so make sure you stop by and have one final visit with the animals.
Sunday night, visitors have the opportunity to join the Stamford Museum & Nature Center for Night is Nice Planetarium Shows. From 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., individuals will visit the awesome bat exhibit and delve into the world of nocturnal animals as they discover the evening chorus of frogs, owls and insects. Additionally, they will hear stories of the animals found in the evening sky. This event is recommended for ages five and up with doors opening 10 minutes before the show.
Both of these events are free to members and free to non-members with gate admission.
