Bring Tech with You

Posted On: Monday, April 17th, 2017

TechSmart Home design has been a trending topic for at least a year now, and with improvements in existing technologies and the release of new ones, it’s now even easier to bring the convenience of smart home designs into apartment living.

For a while, many of these ideas were out of reach for apartment residents because they required installation to interior or exterior walls and ceilings, which is usually forbidden to renters. Celebrate Easter in an Egg-Cellent Way

Posted On: Monday, April 10th, 2017

easter partyNothing suggests the coming of spring quite like an Easter party. With warmer weather and longer days, people of all ages are ready let their Easter colors shine and spend some time outdoors. Since Easter egg hunts are over fairly quickly, we thought it was a good idea to plan additional entertainment for your little ones. Our residents at CTBest are invited to join us for a kids Easter craft party on Friday, April 14, from 5:15 p.m. until 7 p.m., at our Morgan Manor Community Room. These craft stations will allow for tons of unique decorations that will look perfect on your refrigerator.

Start your Easter activities without leaving your community and give your kids a time to remember! It’s a perfect time for kids to get a little crafty, and as long as the kids are accompanied by an adult, we’ll have plenty of egg-speriments to engage in. In addition to our wonderful craft party, there are also more Easter happenings throughout the community. (more…)

Why Begin Your Apartment Hunt Now

Posted On: Tuesday, March 28th, 2017

Stamford DowntownWhether it’s your first year in college in a new town or you’re familiar with the area but want to upgrade apartments, it helps to know when you should start looking for the perfect place to call home. Most students begin looking in summer, for a multitude of reasons. However, taking financial situations and availability into consideration, the ending winter months that lead into spring may be the best time to begin your apartment hunt.

In Connecticut, spring can be brief depending on the year so typically March and April are still recognized as winter months. Living in a college town, the apartment and housing market will swell and diminish as students move in and out of town. If you’re looking for an apartment near campus in the months leading up to the beginning of the fall term, you’ll probably be out of luck. Once graduation comes around, heading into summer, there will be more choices and less competition. If you begin searching in the spring months, you’ll be more likely to get a sense of the area, community and apartment you want. Some apartment complexes do month-to-month leases, while others offer yearly leases. In May, many leases end, making it prime time to make your move. (more…)

Don’t Let the Winter Months Affect Your Grocery Bill

Posted On: Wednesday, February 1st, 2017

winter grocery shoppingLiving in a colder state, it’s no surprise the household bills tend to spike during the winter months, but why does the cost of groceries seem to rise? The hike in cost is often due to the need to eat richer food in colder months. Here are a few tips on how to save on groceries during the winter months:

Take Advantage of Deals and Coupons

No matter what your preference of supermarket, every one of them will have weekly and monthly sales.  Research what is on sale before you grocery shop and try to base most meals on those items. Meat is often the most expensive item on a grocery bill; grocery stores often have low prices on meat that is close to its sell-by date, so buy it and freeze it to ensure it lasts.  Speaking of frozen food, shop the frozen produce aisle to enjoy healthy food for a cheaper price.
